Texas Tech has a USDA grant supported professional skills bootcamp for recent (including graduating in 2025) rural practitioners. We still have spots open. Please forward the details to any students or recent graduates who may be interested in improving their professional skills including communication focused on producers, conflict negotiation, teamwork, leadership and financial planning.

More details are below

Dear Graduating Seniors,

Are you wishing that vet school had taught you more about how to be a veterinarian

Are you concerned about struggling to manage disagreements within your clinic?

Do you wish you had guidance in managing cases for clients who are financially constrained?

Is providing feedback to your technicians stressful for you so you just avoid it?

Professional skills are what take your clinical skills to the pavement. The TTU Profession Skills Bootcamp is perfect for recent grads who want to become skilled and confident in managing interpersonal relationships, meeting clients where they are financially, giving and receiving feedback in a way that encourages growth and want to maintain their physical and mental health for a long career.

The TTU Bootcamp was imperative in improving my communication skills with my staff and clients! The sessions were very useful as the information could be immediately implemented within my practice. I gained great relationships with class colleagues that I still talk to. I continue to receive valuable mentorship from many of the instructors. This Bootcamp has been one of the most useful CE opportunities I have attended. – Chelsea Bland Smith, DVM

In the TTU Professional Skills Bootcamp, you’ll get:

3 days of RACE-approved CE (14 hours) with a small group of your peers on topics that include:

  • Client communication scenarios
  • Delivering and receiving feedback
  • Personal wellbeing skills
  • Conflict negotiation
  • Evidence based veterinary medicine in rural practice
  • Spectrum of care and client financial restrictions communication
  • Managing the veterinary team
  • Mentorship
